Explanation of a Polygon

A polygon is used within 3D modelling programs in order to create numerous different objects, vehicles and even model humans. Numerous amounts of polygons can create a variety of different objects, for example 2 million polygons were used to develop Kratos (the main character from God of War 3).

A polygon is made up of vertexes. One vertex on its own is simply a co-ordinate within the 3D modelling program. 2 vertexes can act as 2 separate co-ordinates, or can be linked together to create and edge. 3 vertexes can be linked together by a series of three lines to form a triangle. When you do this, the created triangle is a polygon.
